It has the distinction of being the only active volcano in India. There is no monument or any such thing on Barren Island but still people like to have a glimpse of it. In the South-East part of the Barren Island, two cold water fountains have been located in the dry drains.
Barren Island is the land of an active volcano. It is famous for having only active volcano in South Asia. True to its name, it is a barren area uninhabited by humans though it has a small population of birds and animals like goats, flying foxes etc.
How To Reach
It is 139 km by sea from Port Blair, and visited by chartering boats or with the permission of Forest Department. There is no permission to get onto the island, so the tourists can view the island only from vessel.

Barren Island is not a tourist area, so there is no hotels or resorts facilities are available here.
Sightseeing And Activities
The island is prohibited to the visitors, you can see only active volcano here from your vessel.
